@weeble @coolboymew I didn't have one, but I did have several college roommates who liked anime and vidya. I still talk to a couple of them to this day.

@weeble @coolboymew @noyoushutthefuckupdad I was the president of my High Schools weekly Anime club from year 10-12 with a club size of 20-30 people. Nothing made me hate dealing with people more and become a introvert faster in my life.
Though I did learn A LOT about video/subtitle editing and encoding since could not show nudity or the word fuck in the subtitles. Which could be tricky when showing a hour of the seasons new and popular shows along with some classsic but I made it work.
Funny that the word fuck could not be shown but this scene was okay from Azumanga Daioh

@coolboymew @weeble @noyoushutthefuckupdad The teacher advisor was a old guy who did the film studies class and was a big Ultraman/Kaju guy and he just sat in the back of the classroom while I handled the projector and running the files on VLC. So no teacher pre-screening since they guy knew some pitfalls of Japanese media & gave me the rules in the beginning and I was given pretty decent free reign to show whatever as long as there was no issues.
Which I think I only had one slip-up where a sub group choose to use the word Fuck in Bus Gamer episode 3 where the group i watched didn't. I recall like everyone turning their head to the teacher when it came up and he was not paying attention but I owned up to it and said something and he was like okay we can turn it off and put something else on. With that said the presidents before me and showed me the ropes at the end of their senior year (my freshman year) what I could and could not get away with.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @weeble @coolboymew yeah gave way less of a shit my senior year and went pretty lax. I graduated in 2011 so at the end of me leading the group I saw the writing on the wall. Crunchyroll and other legit streaming services were becoming a thing and more common. So the days on someone grabbing the latest fansubs on IRC or trackers was becoming a thing of the past.
So the whole purpose of the club (as far as I saw it), which was to share a diverse spread of different shows as they came out in Japan who did not have easy access to those resources was over,
