Question for any #Gentoo
users out there as I am trying to see what the consensus is. Do you roll with `~amd64` globally or only where needed on specific packages?

@rain Globally here (and have done for as long as I can remember, started using Gentoo around 2003).
@rain I've tried to keep it only "as-needed", but the list of packages that need it just keeps growing.
@rain only as needed for me. I like a stable system.
@rain I use ~amd64 for specific packages, otherwise it quickly turns into a horrible experience 😅
Yeah use it for individual packages. Globally would be a nightmare lol
@rain I always switch to global ~amd64 as first thing after finishing the install
@rain Globally, on every system.
No real issues on desktop (X11/Cinnamon) or numerous servers.
I use "~amd64" - globally. In the list of mirrors at https://www.gentoo.org/downloads/mirrors/, go to the releases/amd64/autobuilds/ directory. All available stage files are displayed there (they may be stored in subdirectories named after individual subarchitectures). Select one to download.
@rain I only enable it as-needed at the package level.
