the next cute picture I save will be #6000

@izaya Do you ever go back to look at them, and do you have a naming scheme for them?

@rain I mostly keep the pixiv IDs. I post selections on fedi fairly often.

@rain I regularly lament the fact I'm using btrfs rather than BFS so I don't get the database features I could on Haiku though. It's just organised into folders, I might end up doing something with symlinks later for more robust tagging but it'd be super jank.

@izaya I see thank you for answering in such detail. I always like hearing how people handle their file collection and what they do with them.

@izaya @rain https://github.com/Bionus/imgbrd-grabber/

This program preserves all tags with metadata, and can name files based on a user-defined custom hierarchy, and bulk download every image under a tag or combination of tags at once. It also works with more than just boorus.

@coyote @izaya I maintain a package for this on the AUR. Can confirm it is pretty nice.

@coyote @rain these sorts of things work but they're not what I'd consider an elegant solution

I'm pretty well resigned to the fact that if I want to organise files nicely I'll be building myself a Haiku file server

@izaya @coyote If you do, please keep posting about it. Sounds really interesting!

@izaya @rain so you wouldn't be able to programmatically sort through the tags aftrt bulk downloading?

@izaya @rain after*

@izaya @rain also to me the most important thing is the artist, so I just sort by artist

@izaya @rain anuway, this wasn't a proposed solution, just a way to keep the tags and bulk download

@coyote @rain I probably could, I have the pixiv IDs and I could cross-reference them with boorus
the issue is that xattrs suck and storing tags in a database sucks and symlinks for tags sucks so I'm too lazy to bother organising beyond "this has characters from x series"

@izaya @rain I'm just talking about image metadata, and I'm not talking about organizing, I'm talking about downloading while preserving tags.............

@izaya @rain I think I get you now. You mainly use pixiv. I mainly use the boorus. This program supports pixiv though, and it probably works with its bulk downloading feature, might even preserve some tags? Haven't tried it yet.

It's just a downloader that's very configurable
