> Kinder Surprise eggs are legal in Canada and Mexico, but are illegal to import into the US. In January 2011, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) threatened a Manitoba resident with a 300 Canadian dollar fine for carrying one egg across the US border into Minnesota. In June 2012, CBP held two Seattle men for two and a half hours after discovering six Kinder Surprise eggs in their car upon returning to the US from a trip to Vancouver. According to one of the men detained, Joseph Cummings of Seattle, WA, a border guard quoted the potential fine as "$2,500 per egg."

@rin So goofy because a few year later they became legal. I can get one in a store today.

@amiloradovsky itโ€™s from kinder surprise wikipedia page lol

@rain are you sure these were not kinder joy? cause I canโ€™t find any news about the ban on them being lifted

@rin Oh my apologies I was unaware they were different as I it was kinda a big deal when the kinder joy eggs came. Also does not help I have heard them both been called the same thing though after looking at it it seems they are indeed different product. I am sorry for my dumb American meat brain.
