This has worked 999 times out of 1000 for me. What are you people doing wrong

@vriska if only you knew the autism with codecs in private trackers

@orekix @vriska or hardware, i cant get certain common codecs to work on my bluray player

@nether @vriska

I was very very sad when my raspberrypi couldn't play certain codecs properly, there died the idea of using it as a media home server

@vriska download movie
wait theres only -3 seeders
wait the subs are fucked
wait the compression is shit
wait the audio is mixed for 7.1 and compressed to stereo so you cant hear shit
oh its encoded at 30fps so now we have to deal with 3:2 pulldown ok my eyes don't need to feel comfortable

at least 2 of these happen every single time

@orekix @vriska those things are fucking useless for anything other than file serving/web hosting

@why @vriska

>Torrent

I think that's part of the problem.

@ethernutt @vriska yeah ill just buy blurays from now on

@why @vriska usenet is still a thing

@ethernutt @vriska more like usenut

@orekix @nether @vriska Use it as nfs server and stream the raw files.

@why @vriska
> wait the audio is mixed for 7.1 and compressed to stereo so you cant hear shit

this one might as well be a constant

@rain @why i would simply turn the volume up

@vriska @why Playing audio engineer constantly changing the volume from scene to scene get old very fast. Also does not help when the music is blaring and all dialog is at a whisper.

@vriska @rain i like not getting a noise complaint just because i want to watch terminator 2 without holding the remote FUCK

@ethernutt What even is a good Usenet provider any more? (Honest question)

@why @rain I find it almost impossible to believe it would take longer than 10 minutes to acquire a reasonably watchable copy of a movie that popular in any situation with internet access and basic knowledge

@why
1. Download movie
2. Quality isn't entirely perfect
3. "oh well you get what you pay for, let's watch this movie"
4. Watch movie

@vriska @why

1. Buy movie
2. Insert disk into drive
3. ERROR: CONTENT ENCRYPTED NO DECRPYTION KEYS
4. "oh well you don't get what you pay for"
5. pirate the movie

@hj @why I never said you should buy anything. Perfection is an illusion

@vriska @why problem really is that industry doesn't seem to care about distribution and consumers, they just care about selling pieces of plastic and also don't resell said pieces of plastic.

while also making getting movies legally digitally a pain in the ass as well.

@hj @why fuck legality and fuck the law. i just dont understand why it has to be such a process. if what you pay for is never perfect, why would the daisy chain open source codec stream sync whatever be better?

@vriska @hj because i have been sold a lie that i can get the theater experience at home

@vriska @why breakin' the law! breakin' the law!

the answer is - "when you can't legally buy a car that doesn't fuck you in the ass - assembling your own car beats walking thousand kilometers"

@hj @vriska what about buying a car from 1991 and just constantly repairing it

@rain I use Cheapnews, Tweaknews and have a block account on Vipernews. nzb.su and dognzb.cr for indexing, all tied into sonarr/radarr -> sabnzbd pipeline.

@why @hj @vriska fuck cars driving is stressful

I would much rather have a paramotor to get around

@denza252 @hj @vriska i would simply use the console to teleport myself to the needed location

@why @denza252 @vriska A.I. Disabled...

@hj @denza252 @vriska n word filter: DISABLED

@ethernutt Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
