IOS is dogshit because the code is not liberated and you can't fucking sideload apps
pajeetdroid is dogshit because developers don't unlock their phones and the vendor rom is always unoptimized for their devices.
@sun holy crap
these things made me think might be ok to use a telephone some day
@thatbrickster@shitposter.world @lain@lain.com @sun@shitposter.world also the phone specs were pretty damn bad at the time, so it left a bad impression
@thatbrickster@shitposter.world @lain@lain.com @sun@shitposter.world somehow the windows phones ran fairly smooth with limited RAM, but none of the apps were worth it
Livin' in the 80s...
@sun@shitposter.world wew. That's an old video. I hope they changed some stuff since 1980
Speaking of which; why are cheap phones never unlockable? It seems like most companies only have their most expensive phones be unlockable.
Big companies tend to avoid blatantly infringing the GPLv2, as it's game over if their license gets terminated.
I have framed donut-era Android art in my office that constantly reminds me of a time when google didn't hate humanity 😪
They only distribute a proprietary version of the kernel, Linux and although previously they additional gave the user the choice whether to install additional proprietary programs for hardware support (which usually gave the user the choice, even if occasionally the compilation script writer screwed up), they now just install the proprietary software without asking the user, meaning that postmarketOS is proprietary software that tramples on the users freedom.
As for the OS, doesn't matter, all phones use shittier forks of other OSs
So what if I wanna play pokemon rom hacks and SRW on my phone? That's my right as an american, goddamnit

Where'd you learn how to drive? You coulda killed somebody!
I failed my driving test so many times my family just started calling me Spongebob. If I had failed one more time I would have had to completely start over or something.
@sun @mookie Wow, he must've bought it right away!
So there's good news / bad news about the article I wrote:
Good: It's a fun 11-min read.
Bad: It's an article I wrote for supporters of my site / newsletter.
If you still want to read it, you could always join as a member (it's only $2), read the article, then cancel if you don't want to remain a member. I get that paywalls suck, but it's one of the few perks my supporters get.
